Jürgen Polle, Associate Professor in the Department of Biology, received his diploma degree and his doctorate degree in biology from the Georg-August University at Göttingen in Germany. His postdoctoral research was performed from 1997 to 2002 at the University of California at Berkeley. His research interests include the regulation of acclimation of photosystem II activity and the light-harvesting protein complexes of unicellular green algae. He is also studying carotenoid over-accumulation in microalgae and the effect of truncated chlorophyll antenna sizes on production of high-value commodities.
